Modernising work

The London Borough of Barnet embarked on an ambitious project called ‘Modernising the Way We Work’. The idea was to use mobile computing to allow its staff to work from anywhere. The aim was to increase efficiency and reduce accommodation costs per head.

Quadnet analysed the London Borough of Barnet’s requirements, recommended a solution and provided equipment for evaluation.

Maximum mobility

The solution included ultra-slim HP Compaq Notebooks plus an office environment that included a docking station, flat screen monitor, keyboard and mouse. Wireless networking was used to simplify network installation and provide maximum mobility for users.

Smooth roll out

Because of the importance and scale of the project (1,400 Notebooks), Quadnet worked closely with senior HP management to ensure pricing was competitive.

HP was also closely involved in the provisioning strategy, which involved holding the equipment in a bonded warehouse and delivering it in batches over a period of nine months.

Quadnet oversaw the roll-out, which went very smoothly with minimum disruption to staff.
