Case Study Summary
Bishop Fleming
Bishop Fleming doubles performance and halves space requirements with a new data centre designed and installed by Quadnet.
The Challenge
Bishop Fleming is one of the fastest growing accountancy firms in the south west of England, with offices in Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay and Truro. The company is completely dependant on its IT services, but its equipment was coming near to the end of its useful life and needed to be refreshed. Added challenges included the need to reduce energy costs and move to a smaller data centre, plus the new solution had to be implemented quickly.
Quadnet’s Solution
Quadnet was able show Bishop Fleming how to take advantage of consolidation and virtualisation to save energy and reduce cooling requirements, cabling and rack space. The space saving aspect was especially important. The solution included an HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array, ProLiant Servers and ProLiant Server Blades. Quadnet had all the equipment delivered to its own offices for testing before installation, resulting in a smooth and fast implementation.
Business Benefits Delivered
- Double the power in half the space, with no increase in heat output
- Far less cabling, which makes maintenance easier
- More powerful servers in a smaller space saves on power and cooling
- Much improved system administration and management from a single console
- Enhanced agility as VMware virtualisation enables virtual servers to be moved on the fly
- Reduced risk through better back up and Disaster Recovery.
"I’m very happy with the solution Quadnet put together for us. The HP equipment is excellent. It has built in redundancy and it just works, which is very refreshing. Quadnet was very professional throughout. There was no hard sell. They were always focused on delivering the right solution for our needs. They took a lot of time and trouble to explain the technology, so we felt comfortable with it"
