By adopting a virtualisation approach recommended and supplied by Quadnet, Islington has managed to reduce the server count by 50, and looks to retire as much as 30 percent of its server hardware in the future. Using virtual servers, together with centralised SAN storage, also means that the IT organisation can react rapidly to new business demands.
